    Over the YFT

  • XC Triker

How'd you know that was YFT?  I didn't realize they were that close to the lake (that's in many pics).  Is that a dirt cross runway?   Looks dry--  when is your rainy season-  or are there just 3--  drought, flood, & fire.  Kinda like LA  :  drought, earthquake and fire season

  • Jozinko

Yea, near the lake, two runways, hangars... :) We must to know it when we want to fly there...

  • YFT

Hi XC and Jozinko, Yes that's the Yarrawonga Aerodrome, and it is dry at the moment. Yesterday we had 50kt winds in the morning at 2000 feet. Yes we were flying. In the afternoon that wind was on the ground. My hangars were all locked up.

    Hi YFT,

Great photo of you and Hedgeview over the aerodrome with the lake in the background.  I dare say you would not have been making much headway in 50 kts of wind at 2000', although the down wind leg of the circuit would have been exhilarating.  Have you been affected by any bush fires in your area after Sundays high winds?.

  • YFT

Hi Noel C, Another Go-Pro shot. I had three Go-Pro's mounted on the Trike for that flight. Got some great shots to. I went up with Ian in the Priate Ship, and the weather man go it right for a change. It was 50kts at 2000 feet. It was great turning down wind we went from 26kts to 109kts is a lilttle over two seconds. It was smooth and that was good. The bush fires or should I say grass fires were just to the West of Yarra, but the CFA was making a big deal out of it but they only had only truck on the fire. A lot of smoke but not much more than that.

  • Noel C

That all sounds good.  Ian must be getting his nav hours up.  I am hoping to get up this coming weekend so hope to catch you then.  (fingers crossed for good weather)

  • Jozinko

Wow, 50kt wind is realy strong...! The acceleration you were better than Porsche, there :-)

Yea, Noel, my fingers are crossed for your good weather too!
