Nice trike ULT !!!  I like it.  Nice wing, nice comfy seat, good clearance and suspension it looks like !!!  I want to fly it !!   How's it perform?  Good climb with or without engine?

If this is your "first" do you have others?

Thanks XC. It really is a blast to fly the ATF.  This was an early picture before I made many modifications for improved performance and safety.  After I experimented with different reduction drives and props I discovered a combination with considerable increase in thrust.  Usually was able to achieve at least 500-600 fpm climb rate which is not bad for the Simonini Mini 2 plus only rated at 26hp.  Yes, I had many engine off soaring flights in that baby.  Not too difficult to do with the 17M Stratus wing and light wing loading.

I actually sold that trike earlier this year since late last year I bought a new NW Maverick II Legend / Verner JCV-360 / 13M Pacer wing.  Not enough room to keep 2 trikes so the ATF had to go.

What changes did you make to improve the climb rate on your ATF?

My ATF under a 17M Solarius only climbs at 150fpm on a good day. I'm just 180 lbs. It has the Simonini Mini 2 plus with 3:1 reduction, 2-blade 51" GSC prop at 32in pitch. Best climb is at a hair over 7000rpm, and it will easily rev a lot higher so it isn't bogged down.

It seems it should do a lot better than that. My old Soarmaster hanging under a ragged out 17M single surface glider would climb better than 150fpm on just 10HP.

Hey Mike, thanks for your note.  I definitely agree with you that some thing does not sound quite right with the climb rate performance you mentioned.  I would be more than happy to try and help you out but I think it would be more efficient if we could talk on phone.  My personal email is JoeNHockman at gmail dot com.  I will sent you a message through this site and perhaps we can exchange email address and phone numbers and connect on phone. thanks again. Joe

Whoo sure dosent sound right   thats worse than mine . Let me know what you figure out joe. Btw  i got new front and rear wires for my w/w falcon lowers. We made the mistake of cutting the rears after having  the tangs swauged.the problem of measuring the wire length on the rears  was too much flex on the keel , impossible to get an exact measurement?  So now ive got the wing properly cabled i can make the measurement to the new hole location .been a few obsticles but itll work.
