Got the ipad mini installed with anti-glare shield. Pretty good solution with GPS/ADS-B!

Hi Ken, I like your new EFB. It seems to fit well on the Tanarg. I see you have a spare whole in the dash? I have a spare MGL V6 that would fit in that whole perfectly...
That hole is for the compass, but slightly too small, the v6 is on my wish list though. What would you part with it for @YFT?
Hi Ken, The MGL V6 is new and you can have it for $900 AU plus frieght. I paid $1290 AU for it but it is not what I want in a radio. So I have gone back the M760 RevQ radio. The V6 is sitting in my avionics store room.
Does it affect your visibility when landing? Thought about putting my full size ipad in the same position, but thought it might hamper my visibility so i just strap it to my leg for now.
Ken, looks good. I have been hesitant to go the iPad route because of sunlight readability probs. Great to know that mounted vertically like that it works well. On the knee it's often not bright enough. I have my iPhone mounted where you have your hand-held radio, nearly vertically, and it works great there. Did you use a Ram mount to the front tube?
I wouldn't use the iPad (or iPhone) as my sole GPS though-- the iPad is mentioned on the internet by pilots for freezing and crashing frequently (though still a very loved device). I currently have my Garmin 396 which I will keep using in addition to an iPad (if/when I get one- which for ADS-B with traffic and weather seems AWESOME, except the initial cost). My Garmin is mounted where Ken has his iPad, so I'm going to have to come up with something else-- maybe both up there. The only negative is that I like a cleaner view up there-- that's the whole point of a trike isn't it? Great visibility!! Here we are surrounding ourselves with look inside the cockpit junk and not looking outside for traffic and at clouds, etc for weather!!!!???
Mark, in regards to landing, I don't think it will make a big difference-- as long as you can see the end of the runway-- the final inches of landing are from peripheral view. I've flown Henry's Tanarg with his huge GPS in that position and didn't notice an issue.
No visibility issues at all when landing. I suppose it could be brighter, but I'm getting no glare issues when using Moshi iVisor antiglare screen protectors. I have the Ram mount to one that sticks on the dash. I also have a backup GPS on the left side. I haven't had any freezing/crashing issues, although I did get an over temperature notice while sitting on the ground in the sun while setting up. Once we got moving it was a non issue.
