After multiple attempts on multiple days to figure out the problem. Including changing the fuel pump with no change in outcome. Tom called the instrument manufacturer who recommended tapping on the fuel pressure sender to remove any airbubbles-- this was most likely the problem-- common. Yeah!!! All it took was hitting something with a hammer!! (or in this case a screwdriver)
