You go on great XC trips-- I love this kind of stuff !! Flying to the food & Blues Festival (Does no one have the time to go with me to the Arcata Oyster Festival in Northern Calif June 17th? I'm going. "Whatever it takes!" :)
Hey this is a dumb question... Why do you feel the prop covers rank high in terms of items to pack on XC? I thought they were mostly for UV protection (but you're overnight parked), and for trailer towing.
I tried to have a local seamstress sew a wing cover for me for parking in the desert sun, but it just hasn't worked out well yet-- It's bulky to pack, hard to fit (especially one person), and if the wind comes up (which in the desert it often does), then the cover does more damage (I think) by flapping on the wing. Thoughts ?
I do think the fitted trike cover from AC is GREAT, keeps it clean, protected from UV, and just that much more from nosey little hands. Worth packing.
I really try to get a hangar on XC-- 89% of the time I get a hangar. Trikes being small, with movable wings, is a HUGE advantage-- I tell 'em we can pack em in here like sardines. I feel so much better when my trike is locked i a hangar.
Funny that you should ask about the propcovers - the trike cover had already been removed when this picture was taken. One of those habits to just cover it up as well as I can - the trike cover however is in desperate need of replacement - it has reached the end of its life. Will make a new cover this month with special zips to accomodate the rope tiedown configuration that you see on the pic.
Oh yes hangers are great when you land at airfields with hangers, we however sometimes find ourselves landing out in the wilderness with no airfields or hangers in sight.
I just wish the Clipper had more space to pack camping gear - the DTA is certainly a real pack donkey when it comes to " Loading'em Up". The Tanarg ( Dream dream dream ) does seem to have plenty space for goodies!
