PreFlight Inspection Guide

We all know how important a preflight is - don't we.

I made this guide to reinforce for myself what I need to do.  The red circles indicate areas to inspect, such as tyre inflation, oil coolant and fuel levels, propeller condition etc.

It only takes 5-10mins to do once you have done it a few times.

Cool, thanks CB!   Can you email me a larger version to check out-- always things to learn.  What do you think he's indicating by the three circles in a row on the R wing undersurface?  Battens, Battens, Battens?  or Zipper, Cloth/Stitching, Battens, or ....

There was thread here recently where YFT emphasized the importance of a POST-flight check.  I could see the biggest two reasons are:

    1. to catch something that's going to get worse / catch fire if left that way
    2. to give you time to fix a problem before you show up to fly and all the pressure is on to go go go, but there's something a little strange looking about ....  ah, screw it, it's probably nothing, I'll check it out later.

My friend Peter Cepciansky live in Sweden. When he came here in Slovakia he had his Cosmos trike too. Allways we laughed when he prepared his trike and next he took Safety check papier (A4 size) and from left side he started his wing and trike inspection before first take off... He did this check with great respect. He told me only one he didnt this inspection before take off. And his trike was a big damaged, propeller was destroyed and he had a broken arm. Why? He had a little time to sunset and he would like to fly to his friends airport... But he repaired his rear axle 2 days ago... He forgot the nut... It hapenned by taxi to runway fortunately.

Excellent idea.  Mine came in a list on paper.

I second the post flight inspection, I found this on one of mine last fall.

I use the what if method of preflight.do enough what ifs before you fly include weather clouds and runway conditions and rotors.also you're preflight should finalize with a takeoff mental flight plan ext.Iam safest if I avoid this on takeoff or I better be mentally aware on climbing up and keeping level because there some last minute heat connecting on the end of runway.should be part of your preflight inspection? It's not what you see that gets you but what you don't see.
