Trike Repairs - XT-912 weld/tube crack

By crayonbox

Categories: Maintenance

This album is a collection of photos showing the dismantling and reassemble (eventually) of my trike during the repair of my fork carrier due to a recent Service Bulletin from the manufacturer. Dismantling began 4th February.  Delays caused by lack of gas for powder coating.

MISSION COMPLETED NOTES:

So, the whole story now is, when I thought I was finished... I wasn't.

It was disappointing to find that when I test taxiied to try out the steering, suspension and brakes, well after dismantling it all wouldn't you?, I find that the engine instrumentation was fail, and the brakes were soft.

I set about to first find out what was wrong with the instruments.  Turned out to be an unsoldered wire in the 4 pin plug on the back of the Skydat GX2! Fixed it.

Now the brakes... Bleeding brakes... Blocked bleed port on LHS caliper. This may have happened when I first started to bleed because initially a lot of very dirty discoloured fluid came out - maybe from the master cylinder. I had noted during bleeding that the flow on the RHS was much better than the left. Dismantled cleaned, unblocked, lots of foreign sludge. Reassemble and bleed. And still No good, no pressure.

After 2 days of stuffing around, YFT suggested I needed to pump, pump,pump,pump...... Etc etc to get the pressure up, and it now works. Phew!!

Today I checked my carb sync and adjusted, and set the idle to 1850rpm.

Runs sweet and smooth.  Now if only the wind wasn't so strong.

Tonight I sleep - for tomorrow I will Fly!
