I understand how you must feel YFT, but in all honesty, if we don't talk about these things, we don't learn from them either. The key is not to judge since none of us were there my friend.

Leo. I understand what you are saying.i too generally agree that talking about it is a good way to learn. Let me say that i have recieved training from yft and concider him and anne a dear friend. When i heard from ken of the crash in yarrowonga i fell to the floor in tears my knees buckled. Jozinko called me and told me he did the same. Now yft has a sense of humar that is well id say soul connective.the man should be a international diplomat as long as he has no authority over the fate of those beautiful white birds that line the runway most of the time! When peter called me i was very relieved but saddened by ian. Yft was like (ya dont hav to woory aboout mee mate iel nevear dyie n a trike crash mate. Probablee moore lik a doc pikin uhp the wroong insterment doorin a prostat xxam. But all humar aside leo its pretty wierd lookin at a trike you spent a couple of weeks with. Exspesially after i just crashed my soaring trike.
Here is where comments get out of proportion . Searching thru aussie blogs for info on the crash i came into many unjust, unfounded, totally wrong information. And many criticizing yarrowanga for many trike accident that wert even there. And more infuriating some criticizing the training at yarrowanga. I just emotianally blew my top in anger. So concidering that ian and yft were close i understand.
There are some instructors that personally have enormous respect for .( SCOTT FREEBIRD JOHNSON) of US Airbourne , ( LEO FITZGERALED) intro flights and mostly (PETER MCLAINE) of Yarrowanga flight training. Ive had many instructors through the years soley because i always run out of money and luck before i ever finish anything. Private pilot 3 instructors, sailplanes 2 instructors , hang gliding Buffaloe skyryders (which i helped with instruction) 3 different trike instructors.
The aussies i say do some different things than we do here in the states and view things differently as well. Not saying good or bad. They certainly are the most fun loving, intertaining, warm hearted vegiemitaenergetic people i ever met! It reafirmed my opinion after spending a rough time at LAX getting pushed through security like an old dog there in a rush to be put to sleep?
So why am i writting all this. HELL i dont know iam excentric! Or when i thumped in the other day i may have bumped my head (not). I have a photographic memory . I think and flash pictures back in my mind of all the people ive made friends with at fly ins, hang gliding lzs, tarmacks, alltrikes ,tps. Some here some not.Many pilots i want to meet someday. A fallen comrade (ian) and many behind him.Oh here comes steve (buzzy bee) and his lovely wife.his gentle provocitive smile.I knew him a short time but were connected. Does a memorie live i think so. What is important ? Long life forever eternity. If eternity exists than its eternity now, was then,allways will be.what may i ask is time. We go around the same sun it just changes. Time just is change. Eternity is forever changing.Memories are just waiting for us to catch up. What is important (how we live) do we love, do we respect, do we give that respect to others. We love to fly,We fly for eternity, even if are time is short(changed) we are still flying. Those we have lost are still flying in our memories(take a look) there smiling , its warm, there smiling back. Heaven is taking the risks to live even if its a short time here. Hell is rejecting the risks to live. We can sit on the couch and eat potato chips and be totally safe( but safe is an illussion)! Of coaurse we can minimize or maximize are risks. That is are ability in the physical world to change and we pilots , birdmen, angels in training need to learn how to ajust those spiritual feathers. Because i have news you are going to die (change sometime). How we live now will effect how much we need to change after. True death is no love and no change.
Yft you have done so much to help others live.Your knowlege of flying and exsperiences. Passing on your love, joy passion. In the morning having a cuppa with anne in the outback sunshine.hedgeview noel ,kyle,willie and god knows that martin guy all scurrying arround getting ready for the days adventure. Recalling the night before answering wierd questions, looking for things under tables, long speeches, monty python skits.G od what i can do with a memory?Makes life worth li ing! I can recall the first real meeting i had with buzzy bee, Total fear of lighting up a smoke around some very energetic healthy non smokers, feeling guilty i know i should quit looking for some isolated spot away from the crowd, finally joyfully bathing myself in my bad habits getting a strange feeling of not being alone. Theres buzzy bee lurking in the shadows . I can still see him ( heay mate. Youe got a fag ) I was like shocked i was like uh what! He was like a fag mate you got one! Joyfull it finally dawned on me and we both laughed . Oh a ciggerette!!. What a warm exsperience. Thank you buzzy for giving me some of your life. Life is an exsperience in enternity.
I ask all of us to take a minute to reflect a good memory of those that have changed. Feel its warmth, solitude somehow letting us know memories LIVE!

Hi WE, Loe, When I said no comments I ment about the photos. As I said I didn't see the crash, so I am unable to comment on how the aircraft went in. Ian has been flying that aircraft every second week for three days at a time for the past two years. He soloed in that aircraft. I go for a fly with most of my ex-student on a regular basis just to check them out. Noth that they would ever know. I have spoken with about ten people who clame to have seen the crash and they all tell a very different story. I saw Ian flying towards my hangar and I didn't think it was out of the ordenary. It appers that it whet wrong aftyer that. He had nothing to do with YFT or the Amazing Race at the time, and I didn't know he had anyone in the rear seat. However like I said I had just been flying and was baout to go up again when the crash happened. I am just amazed that people are saying that it may have had something to do with me or my business. Or evern his training. It was just a flight that went wrong. I have had a number of instructor in Australia asking me if the Airborne aircraft are safe? I would have to say Yes. I don't own one anymore but I will be flying a XT-912 Arrow today and it does not worry me at all. All the best YFT
Thanks peter. Accidents do indeed happen and anyone of us can have one. No matter how safe we are . Its a fact of life. Reminds me of when sonya was driving 16 miles down a logging road in the spring to go to town. I came out behind her by 5 to 8 minutes low and behold in front of us directly on the road was a boulder the size of a house. So if she didnt see it and we couldnt get through that means that it fell out of the sky right behind her. And fall out of the sky it did, the next day i hiked up to see where it came from. It didnt even touch the ground for a thousand feet.when i got up higher i found where it rolled off a ledge by melting ice that had exspanded it . It must have cut fifty hugh trees in half before it fell untouched moments behind my wife.So which was it an act of god that moved the boulder, or act of god that it missed. Or just an act! However iam greatfull.
Yft i saw those exstreamly mean posts. None were from pilots,or students , some people are just mean have no love thought or humanity.At least half of austrailia knows better because you taught half of austrailia how to fly. Why crie for the people who are destroying themselves. Cheers my friend
