    The White Cliffs Flight.

This flight was going to be a flight into the outback of Australia. We intended to have no support team unlike the Megafauna fly-aways. The trip would consist of four aircraft and no more than eight aircrew. The route would take us from YFT, to Hay and then to White Cliffs via Ivanhoe and Wilcanna. We would then head back to Menindee, to Lake Mungo, and then to Balranald, Denilquin, and YFT. This would be a total distance of 739 nm. That was the plan, however Lawrie and YFT had to pull out as our aircraft were now running late and I would not be able to get them ready in time. The Toucan boy had to pull out due to ill health in the family. So the trip was almost cancelled. But Ed and Av8or decided to go it alone. Well done boys. They left on Sunday and yes they had a headwind. They stayed over night at Hay and Monday they flew to White Cliffs.

The flight to White Cliffs was very hard on both aircrews and Ed said it was the roughest weather he has flown in. Av8or said thank god for the Bionix 13 wing. The two crews stopped at Wilcannia for fuel, only to find that they were told to F*#K OFF and were not able to refuel at that point. Guess who wont be stopping at Wilcannia on my next trip! The two aircraft continued to White Cliffs and were greeted with open arms. Tuesday is a lay day at White Cliffs. I hope the weather is better up there than it is here. Today at YYWG the wind is 20kts gusting 30kts from the SW. The adventure continues...

Yesterday was another bad day for wind. The two aircraft took off from White Cliffs and they headed for Wilcannia. Yes you guessed it they were refused fuel again. The two aircraft then headed to Ivanhoe, where they refuelled. I asked Av8or about the wind. The answer was "you know how I said the wind the other day was the worst I have ever flown in... Well today was worse". I watch the two aircraft battle the headwinds all the way to the farm stay airfield. They landed safely and had 6 bottles of red wine last night. They will arrive back at YFT today.

Hi WE, I am not sure as to the full reason. But I think the petrol station guy was having a bad day. As for photos, no I wont have any more untill the aircraft get back on Thursday. Jo is taking heap of photos. I will publish some when I get them. For now it will just be a comms relay to this page, written by me.

Sounds like a spin would have been a great trip. Shame about the helpful servo (not) may his bowsers fail and his tanks sludge up :)

    Looking forward to the updates.

Next installment... Today 23rd Av8tor and Ed are stuck in White Cliffs. Wind 25kts from the South. Which way were the two aircraft going... SOUTH. The aircrew decided to stay another day at White Cliffs. When I spoke to them they were at the OPAL Cafe, knocking back a hot drink. They also said the Outback was cold. I told them it was 1.9 degrees C here this morning.

The main attraction is a grave of a guy who died of thurst and a house made out of beer bottles. And it got down to 51 degrees farenhieht ,thats are high today. Gosh you blokes are cool!!!
