Irvine Airlines Retires to YYWG.

Do you remember Monty Python’s Irvine Airlines?

Well, Shaun and Fleecia, the only two sheep who ever actually flew, have at last decided to retire. After much deliberation, they chose, as their retirement home, YFT’s Hangar 19 facility at Yarrawonga Aerodrome.

One day in June 2009, a pair of headlights appeared out of the thick fog on John Duigan Drive, and a ute and trailer with Shaun and Fleecia and the latest addition to their family, little Lamb Chop, pulled up outside Hangar 19. All their friends had come along in the back of the ute to wish them well and to help them settle in. Even Emma Emu and Porky the Pig were there. But some sheepish friends were concerned about getting swine ‘flu from Porky, so they wore masks while in his company! Clarbelle the cow went pale at the thought of her friends being left behind, but in no time Fleecia had made herself at home, quickly investigating her surrounds thoroughly.

Soon the little family had settled in. Mireaow, the Hangar Queen, was very wary and quite put out about their invasion of her space, but as usual, Doug the dog took no notice.

I think Shaun and Fleecia may intend to take an occasional recreational flight in one of the trikes with Peter, but they will have to rug up in the cold weather to minimise their lumbago and rheumatic aches and pains, but they are well aware that their first duty is to Lamb Chop. We wish them a long and happy retirement with Peter, Anne, Mireaow the cat and Doug. I’m sure they could spin a multitude of “warries” with pilots who visit the pilot shop.
