Recent Flight up the Coast near Home

By XC Triker

Categories: Trike Talk, Cross Country / XC, Photography

These photos I took flying up the coast near my house.  Include Pismo dunes, Oceano Airport (Rwy 29), and Hearst Castle.  Today I flew down the beach across Santa Barbara's surface class C-  but the stupid GoPro's memory card was full (was the Go Pro stupid or ....)  --  fortunately my friend was snapping photos the whole way, gotta see what he got.

I fly a lot at near Sea Level, but I threw in one photo up at Glacier National Park ~ 12K feet where we were flying last month in some serious wilderness--  We're going back next summer---  Come Along!!  We'll probably be based out of Polson which is much more beginner friendly than Elk River, and surrounded by gorgeousity!!

Ahhhh. Such a great area for flying! We have our own east-coast beauty that I'm not willing to trade (The fall colors will be starting soon, and the valleys will be wonderful), but your backyard is an amazing place to fly and sight-see.

If anybody is looking for a safe and really enjoyable flying holiday, I strongly recommend this area. David will show you a good time.

Really nice photos, I need to make some time to come up and fly soon! Thanks for posting....

Great shot of Morrow Bay. I have anchored in there after being beaten up coming down past Big Sur. Very quiet anchorage to sleep off a long day at sea.

There's a secret place in the dunes we can practice hang gliding where I took this shot-- Ken's ( @Knussear) been there, very cool--

    HG Finger Drag

Overnight with some light winds the canvas is erased- there's no tracks and miles & miles of dunes-- like you're the first ones there, marooned in the Sahara desert or something.

Hey, here's WBK ( @Firstlight ) crawling for miles across the "parched desert:"

First Light and his last moments, parched ...

Thanks for the all the support WBK, hope we can fly together / visit again soon !  Either coast, or I'll meet you in the middle ;)

@FlyDiver--  Damn, you get around!!!  Oz, Big Sur, Moro bay, Arlington, sailing the oceans, etc !!  No safe harbor in Big Sur that's for sure--  It's best to fly it Southward with the winds and a VERY reliable engine.  Beautiful though.
