If you put all your airports/off airports on SkyVector, you can make a cool map of the places you've been. These are mine:
In North American Continent (US, Mex, Canada, Hawaii)
In AUSTRALIA (MegaFauna 2014, etc)

Wow, what a shot. I have just finish another 6 hour flying day with students. Lucky me. I did see a great sunset. I hope you put more shots XC.

Howdy xc Henry Ken and All looks like you're having a ball .Iam sitting here in great falls waiting for dan. My new TRIKE yeaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!## :-) :-) :-). Hey I got a new bucket list for you to fly Sonya going to film it on way back will post it as xc Henrys bucket list invite.you're gonna love it.
Limited cellphone/internet access- but here's the update. Two days ago, Doug & I flew to Mariposa-Yosemite airport at dawn. Jake came later and stopped short at Fresno due to early storm conditions. The RV caravan (including Henry, & our wives driving the trucks) picked him up and we all camped near Yosemite. Yesterday, morning I flew Jake back to Fresno and through the class C- nice flight. He got his trike and we both flew back. Building storm clouds during the day prevented flying & we explored Mariposa instead. Doug had to go home and Jake waited 'till evening to fly back to his home airport- 30mph headwinds when he landed- but he said it was smooth and otherwise a nice flight. We're in a nice canyon campground by the Lake McClure listening to the rain & thunder (typed last night- posted now). Now it's just Henry, Janet & I. We may fly up to Columbia and local airports early this am, then drive into the Yosemite valley for a day trip as the predicted (unusual) thundershowers begin again-- too big of air to fly up to the approximately 12,000' needed over all the rugged granite to see the Yosemite valley-- but there is THIS video of us getting a brief glimpse of the Yosemite valley a couple years ago (wave clouds developing in the Sierras and turbulence turned us around-- a beautiful and intimidating place to fly).
I need to thank Henry for picking me up when it was too windy and putting me up in his RV, and XC for taking me back to get my trike and generally driving me around. Also nice to meet Doug and the others.
Yesterday I kept a close eye on the weather and saw a promising gap between storms headed northbound through the valley. It was a little bumpy until I got out of the mountains then things smoothed out and I picked up a nice tailwind at altitude. But there was a strong headwind at the surface as I started catching up to the trailing edge of one of the storms - Stockton was reporting 18G30 (!) as I flew by but with periods of steady wind between the gusts. So I did a couple 360s to let things get better, marveled at my 28 mph groundspeed passing through 500 feet, and ended up with a fairly uneventful landing.
Got some pictures and video that I'm gonna try to upload later, but I always say that. 9.4 hours, 7 landings, and four new airports. Success!
It was nice meeting everyone at ButtonWillow. Jake, I was thinking about you on the way home watching the winds and storm pick up. I am glad you all made it safely.
Hey guys, latest update- flew from Yosemite to Hollister to Watsonville yesterday (Doug F & Ken L's airport). Today, we had a really cool treat of flying in to the private Academy airstrip right on the beach!!! We talked them in to letting a bunch of us fly there- we need to return with a work party (flying will be involved too)-- this is really cool news. Will share more and photos ASAP. Henry got some good footage today also. See you at Oceano Saturday (or Friday night-- there is a dance & burger fry).
I flew in to Santa Maria about 3 minutes before the wind today-- Phew!! I was racing the wind the whole way down from Watsonville this am- had a ground speed of over 90 for a while. Helped set up for Oceano Airport Celebration day- there are already about 20 planes on the ramp and a party tonight. The celebration is tomorrow-- kinda an IN YOUR FACE to the jerk developer that wanted to rally the public to close it. Rock on Oceano!!
