Insurance

It seems I'm on the wrong side of the fence :-(. Apparently it is much safer to be an RAAus pilot than a HGFA pilot. I now know this because an insurance broker told me today that QBE insurance will in some cases insure a four stroke trike, but only if it is RAAus registered, not HGFA. Who woulda thought!

That's cause HGFA pilots are hang glider pilots and often wear shirts with red bull or some other suitable logo and 1. They are bulletproof so insurance is unnecessary, and 2. They carry a spare parachute strapped to their person when they fly so see 1.
