Great to see you here Mark.

For those of you who dont already know I have just placed an order with Mark (GibboGear) for a 17 meter Manta.

He said that it will be ready in 4 weeks and the color scheme will be the same as Rizzy's.....I love that new pumkin orange color. Cant wait to see it.

Mark, I think that you will really enjoy the characters on this site and the exchange of ideas and info

    Awesome Dave,

I think you made a great choice. 17 meter is a great wing for anyone not in a hurry and wants to fly slow. My 19 meter Northwing even though was a great slow wing, I use to call it a parachute, but in the slightest turbulence it was a full time job to fly that wing. My all time favorite wing was Airborne's Wizard wing and a few pilots who have moved from a Wizard to the Manta 17 have only good things to say about their experience. I will test fly my wing in few days and post my findings on all trikes. Before deciding to buy a Manta 17 vs any other of Gibbo wings, I interviewed many Gibbo wing pilots and for my HKS engine where I want to be able to fly two full grown American adults, this wing should be able to handle it.

I am glad you picked the same color scheme as mine, Other than the fact it looks very beautiful the other reason I asked Mark to make that color scheme is because it is visible from distance. Since I live not that far from Mountain Home Air Force Base and occasionally see F 15s and A 10 Thunderbolt IIs, I wanted a wing that was visible from a great distance.

    Congrats!

Like have posted many times…to get the optimum performance from a low aspect ratio wing like Gibbo’s is to push out in turns.  You need to get the whole sail working.  Same with steep climbs.  This will teach you the right way to fly a flex wing.

The benefit of a low aspect ratio (though less efficient…this is not news), is that you’ll have improved pitch, yaw and spiral stability throughout the entire speed range.  This is what I like them for mostly.

I like high aspect ratio for soaring and low aspect ratio for triking.
