Shopping for Flight Suits?

Last updated by Ttabs Comments (13)

I'm looking to pick-up some new flight suits.  The bags I have did OK but I had issues with the zippers breaking.  I think they're made in Pakistan.  (Pakistan?!?)  Yup - Pakistan!   Check out Skywears.com

Anyone have any suggestions on other makes and models?

Hi Ttabs, I buy my flight suits custom made from Sisley clothing. For real winter flying we use the MA1A jackets used by the US Airforce. We sell them for $50 Aus. have a look at www.sisleyclothing.com.au.

    Hey Guys,

We've been using Fladen immersion suits for a couple of years now.  Really love them.  They are also inexpensive but great quality (imagine that).  The problem is they are a bit hard to get in the US.  The cool things are they are warm, they are immersion suits (we got them to fly over Puget sound and the (potential) killer whales and the still very cold waters much further south at San Francisco).  They have double sealed wrists, which are perfect- you seal one, then put your gloves on, then seal the last over that- or on warm days leave them both open as scoops for cool air.  There is one super heavy duty front zipper-- in contrast to the double zippers our Ozzie suits which we all blew out zippers on - though mostly when we tried to layer up jackets under them-- but no prob at all for the Fladens.  Lots of pockets-- all sealed with snaps or velcro.

I'm wearing mine HERE because it's comfortable AND it was still freakin cold near dusk while changing out the wings!

    But check out this one:

I hope Santa brings me one-- it's just cool looking, and it's got red & white in it, which is becoming a theme with my trike.  At which point, I'll have a large blue & yellow Fladen for sale-- if anyone is interested.

Hey YFT, those Sisley suits look nice and are very reasonably priced.

Hey TTabs - those Skywears suits look EXACTLY like Ozee's, but without the $400 price tag.  Exact replicas to the point of chronic zipper failures.  What's up with that!?

I stitched off the zippers so they cannot go through the elastic waistband - that seemed to cure the zipper problem.  I've had two inflight 'wardrobe malfunctions'.  Maybe that's the fix?

"inflight 'wardrobe malfunctions'." Thats hilarious - as good as the joke of the day lately :)

I had an inflight seatbelt malfunction once. Sleeve of my jacket caught the release lever. Ever notice how you always hit turbulence right at those moments. Oh My was that exciting.

Ken, show the bungie mod  (in the new group you just created) on the belt clasp that was made after that.

I turn my buckles upside down.  Many of us have released our seat belts in flight.  A friend had his shoulder belt fly off into the prop-- fortunately "LOUD noise, and dent in prop" was the ony result.

I have been using custom Peru Fly suits (custom in that I had them add extra warmth padding to the suit).  Does anyone know how to get ahold of them or if they are still in business?  I have 14 of their suits and love them!  Ned to replace some now tho.....

I bought my Peru flight suit from these two gals three years back.  The link still works so I suppose they can still help you with a purchace.  Good luck.
