Best InstructorS of 2013 !!?? Put in nominations here

YFTs amazing accomplishments reminded me that we should celebrate the instructors, without whom we wouldn't be here.

I thought at first we'd nominate the top 3-- then, I thought that it's subjective, and based on where you live and who happened to be your instructor, so it's hard to nominate 1 best, and 2 runners up.  Why don't we nominate our favorite instructors, and get a gift for the best 5 of 2013!!??

I'd like to start by nominating, YFT (in Oz) and Rebel (in the US)

Jozinko, aren't you an instructor in the Slovak Republic.

It's been several years since my first instruction, and I'd love to nominate my instructors (Wayne, Ole, Norm, Doug, etc), as the greatest, but that wasn't 2013 ...

Anyway, let's nominate, and then have a quick poll and then get the top 5 a gift!!!  ;)

There are many good instructors out there (that I have NOT had the pleasure to fly with) and for that reason it is hard to nominate one but I can attest to your statement that Rebel in US is a very nice instructor, knows pretty much every thing about trike flying and very approachable.

I would like to nominate Randy Rauck (Mr Safety) Out in Lumby British Columbia.

Dude is very safety conscious but he has a fun side to him as well. Great instructor.

  • Rebel

I would like to nominate Leo Fitzgerald CFI in Pahrump NV.

well of coarse i am going to nominate Scott Johnson   Ive had several instructors and am sure all the above deserve nominating as well         I  am going to leave personal friendship nice  or alpa hotel out of it. I am going to list why Scott deserves my nomination. hes always there and ready to go when booked. he gives you personal instruction not jingling you with other students.his experiences not just knowledge of flying and weather is quite obvious. his manner of instruction is clear and well understood.hes fair and its not all about the money. he shows that he wants to make you a good safe pilot.his knowledge of the air and weather currents from many years of hang gliding is not with held from his instruction.one thing that i think other instructors should do more on.                 Ive never had norm as an instructor but Ive heard so many positive things i hope someone  nominates him as he is retiring and well deserves a nomination?

ole should be in here as well     he may be a black sheep to the faa but the dudes got bookoo hours flying the rough stuff as i remember hearing about ole from years gone bye a long time ago in hang gliding.and personally i agree with ole that slower gentle wing elsa trikes should still be used for training especially far 103 pilots.            the point is with the amount of instructors leaving the last thing this sport need is to lose the guys who have been flying for eons and are still here to talk about it?           sorry about rambling       i nominate Scott Johnson.

OK, then do we have a list for 2013?

    Australia:  YFT @YarraFT

    US: @Rebel777,   Leo (@Lfitz3),     Ole  @WingedGringo,     Scott Johnson (@Scott  / Freebird)

British Columbia:  Randy Rauck (Mr Safety) in Lumby  @RauckOn

    Slovak Republic:  Jozinko  @Sajan

T-Shirts for all of them???  What do you guys think?

I may be slightly bias, but as I have just gone through the process, you cant go past YFT.

Before I started my training, I did some investigation re instructors in Victoria Australia, I heard both good and bad things about the instructors, except for Peter McLean, no one has a bad word to say about his instructing style.

It was surprising how many people go to YFT half way through their training as their current instructors are either taking advantage financially, or not providing the support that is required.

YFT took me on to learn in a P&M QuikR, not done in Australia before. Although it took me a little longer to get my full licence, I came out the other end a better pilot and are sure no one else would have taken me on to learn in a high performance trike.

    Regards Aussie QuikR

AQR, nice thoughts.  You guys (and gals) are indeed very lucky to have YFT there and all that goes with it.  Two T-Shirts for Peter !

Cheers to all the instructors who raised there hand when the call went out for people willing to let some middle aged idiot get in the front seat and try and kill them over and over !!!  ;)

Without them and their nerves of steel and patience we would't be here flying!

I guess like quickr I may also have some bias towards YFT but with good reason. Having dreamed of flying as a young boy post1978, I have flown with many good instructors in various forms of aviation over time but NONE like YFT. YFT's friendly, personal and always engaging professional guidance and support has no equal. Every flight that I have flown with YFT has always been constructive, educational and most of all memorable. Thank you YFT

  • Dean Coleman

thanks to both randy and rebel both of them are great supporters of the sport and training.i would not be flying without them.hats off to all the instructors long may they teach

  • YFT

Ok, YFT here. Thank you everyone for the great comments. I am an average Pilot and I consider myself a good CFI. Yes I have many hours of flying time in many aircraft types. But it is you the student that make me look good, each and everyone of you are special, in your own way and I watch you all grow into fantastic pilots. As my moto says "We develop great pilots to do exraordinary things." Thanks everyone.
