LaMouette has developed an airbag system. A purpose designed LSA airbag systems designed to be portable from aircraft to aircraft. Key components include an auto-sense G-force and impact meter with patented cold gas inflation technology for enhanced safety. For more information see

It looks to be about $1500 US + VAT. Good deal, I think we should all wear one.
I wonder if it will interfere with a life vest or vice versa- maybe it could almost be a life vest when inflated ; )

Coy (@wambleska) this is the airbag system I was talking about (movie)
This is a subject that highly intrest me .i offen think about how in hang gliding we got some training on how to crash? One time going for my hang 3 rating i bift a close into the hill in high wind landing
Caught a wingtip on the ground.as trained to before impact i let go of the bar covered up my face and let my glider absorb the earth. I must say that had i not done that i surly would have spiral factured both arms.now crashing catching a wing tip in a trike offers some simularitys and differences.i would like to open this for discussion by all.
What can we do physicaly to improve impact tollerance?
What seems better a controll bar limiter or airbag?
Does anyone else feel seatbelt system could stand some improvement?
Maybe some puncture protection built into flight suit such as a motorcross racer would wear?
Any thoughts on the matter welcome!
True David, and basic HG harnesses have the parachute mounted on the chest where it often serves a more frequent purpose reducing impact against the chest. I've often thought that a bar travel limiter, like the one that limits forward bar movement on the front-tube-less DTA would be cool if it was set up to limit rearward bar travel... stopping the bar from going past/into the chest.
Good shoulder harnesses are critical for reducing the bar impact too, in the above video the shoulder restraint is weak-- but the bar is tied down so it won't move, in a crash it usually slams backward-- especially water ditching-- knocking the air out of you (or worse) just when you need that air.
Hm, a recent vid just stimulated a non-pilot just asked me if these exist ...
They exist - click to buy
