Here is SkyVector showing some flying I have completed as of and including CrossCountry NAVs endorsement in March 2014.
As most of you know i dismantled the front end of my trike to repair the cracked fork carrier. During the process it was necessary to unbolt the brake master cylinder unit from the forks.
Reassembly was simply the reverse, and when i took the trike out for a run up and down our runway to test the steering and suspension, i found the brakes to be soft.
so I thought they needed bleeding, maybe air got in or i have somehow disturbed the system, and bleeding can't hurt anyway can it.
I purchased the Airborne manual recommended Castrol Dexron III auto transmission fluid and got to work.
Unfortunately, i can not get enough brake pressure to stop the wheels rotating with brake application.
The question is.... WHY?
It's like there is air trapped somewhere that won't bleed out?
So for now... I am grounded and flabagasted!

Hi Crayonbox, Keep pumping the brakes, they WILL come up. You may have to bleed them a little more. I have seen this before, and I have had it happen to mine. Just be persistent, and pump, pump, pump!
Thanks YFT. I also found this on Airborne site, http://www.airborne.com.au/images/pdf/disc_brake_troubleshooter.pdf
Brakes are now working thanks to YFT assistance.
I have also stripped the plastic coating off the reflex bridal wires, and now all that remains is the carb sync check/adjust and to fly and be free.
Hi CrayonBox, Don't play with your carb sync. The 912 carb are preset and should not be touched unless your engine is very hard to start. This information came to me from the engine people Bert Floods. I have never touched the Carbies on any of my aircraft and as you know I have over 18 912's and some have done over a 1000 hours.
All the best
peter
Peter, the carb sync changes with stretching of the throttle cables, ie age. It is recommended by Rotax for the 100hourlies, and the thread on one carb throttle adjustment elbow had been partially stripped so i needed to have it repaired. The previous owner had been adjusting them. Therefore carb syncing was necessary.
But when everything is running sweet, which it seems to be now, I can rest assured and leave it alone.
Hope that clears it up for you. Not something i would normally want to 'fiddle' with :)
Thanks.
Another thing i should explain is my trike is 5 years old and i carried out the rubber replacement as recommended by Rotax, and replaced the carb diaphragms. Another reason to carry out carb adjustments. And to be clear, I have not and do not plan to change jets or needle settings in the carbs.
When you buy a used trike, on which the maintenance history is never 100% clear, I tend to be more at piece of mind after I have dismantled, cleaned and inspected the various parts.
