  • XC Triker

Hey Monty, how's the prep for the Baja motorcycling going?

  • XC Triker

    Monty's Baja Motorcycle Trippin:

hi xc, when i first did baja we would take sleeping bags, spare
under-pants,cameras,maps etc. that was in the 1980s, now we mainly take
money! (plus flat fixings and chain bits). we get four fresh days of underwear, wear -em backwards second day, inside out next day etc, etc. your KLR would enjoy baja, big gas tank, adjustable suspension etc. we don't
go 'cross country', but the 'roads' are rough enough! we 'only' do 2500mls in 11days on trail, sleep in motels (we've
slept on the ground it sucks!) carry a water bottle, any 'special'
tools needed to rebuild our bikes. we usually have 5 to 20 riders, inc a
few 4wlrs, sometimes a buggy or a jeep. we have a ex-school bus pulling a
large trailer from seattle to san felipe a 36hr drive, then we unload and
ride from san felipe to La Paz and back. we occasionly have air-vacced
guys back to us with various hurts, (me in 2006 when my bmw threw me to the
ground. )i took my weedhopper ultra light down in 1993 and was doing ok
till my wing-tip hit a road-sign on landing (the only sign in 250 mls!) it
looked exactly like an alluminum cactus! i taxi-d back to town behind a cop car. some of our trips have been more exciting, but seldom boring.
    nite-nite monty

Me: That sounds awesome (except for the underwear part)-- when do you

    Monty: jaa shur yu betcha!
