Hi XC, it was a shame that you and White Eagle were unable to accept my invite for today's BBQ and tour of The High Country.
The meat is back in the freezer, not sure if it will keep till next years MFFA.
Heat to fly with you guys, stay safe till next we meet

News says it;s the coldest day in 72 years here- but, it's bright and sunny and the wind is light (but cold) and as soon as some minor repairs get done, we'll do some of our last flying in Oz ;)

  • XC Triker

The flight to Porepunkah yesterday was BEAUTIFUL ! Then we did some formation flying (after I accidentally erased, then reprogrammed YFT's enigma-- Now it's better than ever). Formation was hairy-- worse for White Eagle because he was close, low and behind where we usually fear wake will be. His wing tip was 3 feet from our prop-- I was wondering about BRS ... but it was precise, and exciting and fun. WE says I have to be the rear trike next time. Neither of us were piloting.
Leaving the day after tomorrow ... will miss everyone

Hi Riz, just saw this message-- thank you! We may fly to Porepunkah today- a day earlier than expected- it's 08:30. Sorry about trouble keeping in touch w everyone, we don't have solid internet access. Currently I'm using YFT's computer, but since none of my photos are on it, I can't post the millions more I have. Hello to everyone though.

  • RizzyWizzy

Congrats to you, Jozinko and White Eagle. You are making some great memories and hopefully shot some good videos, Safe flying and trip :D

  • Ken

    awesome!

  • Ken

    awesome!

  • XC Triker

We made it-- back at YFT now. Very nice last flight of the trip-- no Kangaroos today though, but great anyway. We followed the Great Murray River home. MegaFauna 2014 comes to a close and new adventures are planned.
AUSTRALIA-- we came, we flew, we met really wonderful and fun people!! Thank you to everyone, especially Peter and Anne from YFT !!!

  • XC Triker

it's pre-dawn, weather should be better today. Since we were supposed to be back to YFT today, we may push all the way home, or may extend through Monday (but more weather coming)

  • XC Triker

yeah Reb, some people considered flying-- none super seriously, but ... still, it's one thing to have winds come up on you after you launch (staying in air too ong or misjudging), but another to launch a group (or self) purposefully for a "fun" flight into crap conditions. i'd like to try, I'd really like to fly, but gotta tell yourself it's just a bad idea-- and it was not too long ago I reproved to myself how it's way better to be on ther ground wishing you were in the air than vice versa-- we had a great time at the local brewery and tried 10 different beers (or beeahs as Ozzies pronounce it)

  • Rebel

I flew once in 45 kt wind and flew backwards for a while

  • XC Triker

Day was called Wind 28 on ground, 45 above, freezing level at 4K, rain! Well it's off to the pub!!! ;)

  • Ken

Hope you aren't flying with a headwind both ways!

  • XC Triker

Winds up to 45kts in the morning. The plan is to try and fly unless the winds get up to 46Kts ...

  • XC Triker

Fun flying today. Little bit of turb near the convergence line / wind switch- saw a few Emu & Kangaroo and lots of goats. The trikes are staying in Mildura because it is too wet to park them at Wentworth. We are at Wentworth-- pretty town on the Murray and the Darling rivers. We are taking a river boat cruise tomorrow.

  • XC Triker

Today we leave Broken Hill & fly to Wentworth which is to wet to park, drop off our stuff then fly to Mildura and bus back. Rain maybe tomorrow. Light winds, some clouds today

Hi Dave. I really wish I could meet you guys. Such a long way for me to go. When are you internationals leaving Oz? Where are you going before you do leave. http://skyvector.com/?ll=-32.93861688336699,145.1008300985447&chart=301&zoom=11&plan=A.YB.YHBA:N.YB.SU:A.YM.YMML:G.-35.97100453048314,145.97740175387344

  • XC Triker

Wait, I've got more time-- we're in a time zone that shifts back one HALF hour!!???????????

  • XC Triker

It's threatening rain today-- but today is a lay day (day off)-- we go to the silver mines of Broken Hill. Internet still spotty, want to upload lots of photos 10 at a time, but can only get 4 or so to go, sometimes-- fell asleep while uploading last night (maybe it was all the beers Green Leader bought?). Again, everyone on the trip has been great. We DID see Kangaroos and maybe a Dingo?

  • XC Triker

"Green Leader" told me the story last night of how he picked his name. Very cool story, he's going to post it here as soon as he gets a chance. We also found the root behind several people's screen names, pretty fun.

  • XC Triker

it's a quarter after 7am, sun just came up, beautiful day, people arriving, we'll be off and She'll be right, no worries, Bob's your Uncle

  • XC Triker

We're off to the big pre-mega Fauna dinner tonight. Tomorrow we leave. It should be about 01:05 am yesterday in Los Angeles. See you "tomorrow", we're off to adventrue leaving the nest of YFT
