Thanks White Eagle aka David...Dave G loved the color scheme of my wing and ordered similar size and color wing. As far visiting Poulsen, that would have been great...I am not 100 percent if I can visit, it's work related...so I am sorry...If there is even remote chance then I will visit.

  • Ken

Sweet Riz, hope you get up there soon!

Hey Rizzy - how does the new wing fly?

  • Dave G

Hi Rizzy, Its time for me to pay it forward....I received some info that you may find useful in shipping your wing.It worked for me.
Find yourself a cement building products store local to you and buy a couple of sono tubes aprox ($130) for both.
The company that manufactures them make them (3)fit snuggly inside one another to save on shipping charges which works out great for you because the 2 tubes that you buy will open and close like a giant kaleidoscope so that you can fit it to your wing perfectly.
I chose to buy 2 16" diameter by 12 ft long tubes. I slid them apart till they fit the wing 16.5ft and duct taped the seam so that the size of the shipping tube would not change during shipping.
I also remembered some advice that XC triker gave me about how shipping jockeys like to use forklifts whenever they can and sometimes s@*t happens and the wing gets damaged.......Take pictures of the wing before you ship it so that you have proof (maybe include a front page of a newspaper to prove the date of the picture.I took a few pictures that showed the wing and the different stages of packing it up.Insurance?......yup buy it.
once the wing was securely stowed inside the tube its time to seal it up.
I used 2 pieces of 2x10 glued and screwed together on their edge and I laminated them with thin plywood so that they wouldn't come apart during shipping. Then you need to trace the open end of the tube onto the 2x10 wood concoction and carefully cut along the inside of the trace line so that the cut out wooden plug will fit snugly into the end of the tube. then use 1"pan head screws to screw all around the end of the tube into the plug to hold it firmly. (Be careful that you don't tighten the screws right trough the tube)you are almost done.
you now need to get an old used pallet (I got one from the place that I bought the sono tubes from for free) I cut the pallet in half and placed the shipping tube with the wing inside onto the pallet and got the guys that worked there (for a case of beer)to use their metal banding machine to unitize the tube to the pallet so that #1 it wont roll around during shipment and #2 they can get the fork lift involved to a certain extent.
have a look at the pics I posted and it should become more clear as to what I did. Special thanks to XC Triker and to Jim Davidson for the advise. Ill post my pics for you to see.

Thanks Ultrikepilot, I am the one who is honored.

  • ULtrikepilot

Hey Rizzy, thanks for joining the UL group. Feel free to contribute stories, pictures, etc.

  • RizzyWizzy

Thanks Ken, that is very helpful.

Hey Riz - you might give this a read. It offer a different opinion. Its from John Dunham, he helped with the install on my last BRS and Second Chantz parachute systems. http://alltrikes.com/elgg/file/view/43093/ballistic-chute-bridle-routing

  • RizzyWizzy

Can someone educate me how to attach the BRS Bridle on the trike wing. I think I am not doing it right on the wing. Pictures will greatly help too :)

  • RizzyWizzy

Got my alltrikes calendar. The team did a phenomenal job on it. I loved it. It was a great surprise. In the coming weeks I am getting a brand spanking new wing. Hopefully this year I can log in more hours. :)

  • RizzyWizzy

    Hi David,

Nice to hear from you. I have placed order for a brand spanking new wing. I figured I work hard, I deserve a treat. My new wing will be here in 6-8 weeks. I am not too worried about the HKS, My engine has another 930 hours to go before the TBO and I was thinking of pushing it all the way to 2000 hours before the overhaul. There will be many other options when I am ready to move on to another trike/engine combo.

  • white eagle

hey rizzy what you been up too . are you still looking for another wing. or have you been flying. sure sucks about hks that probably would have been my replacement for my red back.

  • RizzyWizzy

Hobie17j, I love the 4 stroker. Generally speaking I don't consider myself financially lucky but in this scenario it was a great deal. It sounds and flies great. I am looking for a 15 meter wing for it now and selling my 19 meter wing. I would love to have details on your 103 trike, my dad is looking for a 103.

  • hobie17j

Rizzy, how are you doing with that 4-stroke toy these days. I am looking at one. Know anyone interested in a 103 trike?

  • RizzyWizzy

Thanks Ken, Sally, David Coy and XC Triker...It feels great to be 82 lol...I have accomplished some of the dreams and running after others. Being a dad and learning to fly and owning my trike are big achievements of this decade.

  • Ken

    Happy Birthday Riz!
