    Hi all,
I wanted to be a CFI and bought CFI Instructor Training Books. I have changed my mind because, I don't feel that my skill level is where I can teach others and also my wife doesn't want me to pursue it. So for me it is back to Experimental flying. I guess my new direction is to fly and share the gift of flight with my friends and shoot a lot of videos like Damien or Jeff.
Please email me at rizzywizzy@yahoo.com if you are interested in CFI training books.
    Regards,
    Rizzy

hey riz what yu been up too hows your flying going iam temperarly grounded found a freyed cable. so waiting on replacement. happened in transport caught it in preflight. you still planning on making bonners ferry I hope.

That is funny Henry, I did an still do think once in a while to learn PPG flying, but I guess if you have a 19 meter wing, you can come pretty close to that slow flying experience. I want to try it though. Now, if you do feel that they crossed the line by using your clip than by all means you should talk to them. I thought you might be happy knowing that you are in a video. I have not finished the video, so I don't know if your name is in the credits (maybe it is there). Quite frankly I think the use of copyright material is a grey area. Many of us trike pilot shoot videos and use copyrighted music to promote our videos...Is that ok for us to do that? So I don't know Henry what is right and wrong here. But if you want than you should talk to them.

  • Happy Triker

Rizzy, they don't use it in the news report. Obviously they use it in their product and sell them. They are not using my movie for commenting or criticizing. So this is not "trans-formative" purpose. Anyway, I don't want to ague with you what is “trans-formative”. BUT don't you think they should give a credit statement or courtesy notice at least ? This movie is mainly for PPG pilots, right ? I know many PPG pilots don't pay attention to other aircraft. They are dangerous. I have many bad experiences with them. LOL

  • RizzyWizzy

Ooops Henry, I didn't know about the permission and copy right infringement. I don't know what the laws are regarding that. The clip is very small and I think small clips might be covered under Fair Use Doctrine (In its most general sense, a fair use is any copying of copyrighted material done for a limited and “trans-formative” purpose, such as to comment upon, criticize, or parody a copyrighted work. Such uses can be done without permission from the copyright owner. In other words, fair use is a defense against a claim of copyright infringement. If your use qualifies as a fair use, then it would not be considered an illegal infringement).

    Thanks David (white eagle),

I love my Manta 17 RST wing for many reasons, it flies beautifully. The best way I can explain it is, it is like cross between Airborne's Wizard wing and the 15 meter Northwing. But it has no flutter. I would have never have dared to do a cross country with any other 17 meter wing but I trusted my Manta wing. The wing flies at about 45 and with the bar in it was near 52. Very docile wing. And at 4500 brand new inclusive of taxes was a great price. When we get to meet, you are more than welcome to fly my trike and give me your observations on the wing.

  • white eagle

hey riz congratulations on your flight and getting you bird a little closer to home . so you like your 17 meter nice

  • Ken

Ah thanks, I'll watch out of those four things to be sure!
I fly here around the home patch most days. But I like discovering new places - and venturing out from my usual circle from time to time

  • RizzyWizzy

Thanks Ken, It was a lot of fun. As far as cross countries, I use to do them a lot when I was new, especially in my first year of flying but the romance ended soon because I would fly from my airport and land at another and then fly back and after a while of doing that it got old very fast. Other reason is that I fly alone so it is not as much fun to do cross countries by myself. Third reason is that I had two engine outs on my old 582 trike, first time I had a successful landing but the second time even though I made a good landing approach and while landing in the field, the trike flipped and it ruined the wing and that struck some fear of going in new places by myself and be stuck all day if I survived an emergency landing. Lastly I find more joy just flying low and slow in the area and just have some fun at slow speed. You have a nice and safe cross country flight now :)

  • Ken

Sounds fun Riz! I've got one coming up on Thursday. Meeting Jimw and Kim on my way down to Casa Grande for the copper state flyin. I'm jazzed. What is it that you don't like about cross country flights?

  • Wile E Scott

Sweet! I did my first cross country a few months ago and it really was much more fulfilling than I had imagined. If I move my trike as you just did it will be a 4 hour transit at minimum. I think I'm going to go for it though. Pretty cool!! Glad that new wing is treating you well.

  • RizzyWizzy

Did my first cross country flight on my new 17 meter wing, it was about an hour long flight and it was pure serenity. The purpose of the flight was to transport my airplane to it's new hangar. I am not into cross country flights but taking off from a different airport and landing at a different one gives you a feeling like you are flying a 747. It was a great flight. I am happy now

  • RizzyWizzy

    Thanks David,

Awesome, will be looking forward to it then :)

hi rizzy as far as I know tom tabs may host the next flyin at bonners ferry or sand point another just great place to fly. and some of are aussie friends will be coming up here from austrailia so not really sure what dates will be set and if were going to coordinate that with other events . but I will let you know after I call tom tabs. there is also the quincy flyin and ill find out if that is going to be held again at deer park near Spokane. that is the chapter 127 ppc and trike fly in. I went to the last one with gorge balaz. clyde poser I think host that one and is a lot of fun as well.

  • RizzyWizzy

Is there any fly-ins or trike pilot gathering next year near Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, Washington, Oregon area?

  • white eagle

hey rizzy not sure i agree with taking off and landing on the runnway to get rid of the lag in flying.not trying to be cofrontational at all ill just exspress my views. first there are different levels of cofidence.lets just say severe lack medium lack and minor.if you are severe i would recomend going back to an instructor till you get your cofidence back (works well) medium and let me explain how i got this from hang gliding.onr the launch in hang gliding is different but the emotional aspects are the same but more challanging doing a wire launch off a shere cliff of basalt.there are no options for a blown launch you ethier do it correctly or you get hurt.so yes there is always a feeling of unease but the drawing point is controlled or not controlled fear.A pilot hasto make a good asessment of his emotions. if it is uncontrolled the best thing is to back off launch and re evaluate, think it through.and be ready to do the proper things at launch be confident about it and put that plan in good motion. take off and get airbourne and seek altituide. now how does that relate to taking off and getting rid of the i havn,t flown in a while jitters in a trike?one in taking off and landing on the runnway you are one compressing a lot off imput into a short period of time while being nervous, makes room for mistakes. no 2 you will be also using throttle and dumping throttle close to the ground maybe not a good idea.crow hopping is not a begginers manuver? for medium and minor lags in flying i suggest this. be well prepared look at the wind is it light look and see your takeoff before you fly it and calculate the risks.get to the point that you have done all the right steps, tell yourself ok iam commited to doing it right and be commited and not indecisive at the point you make your decicion to enter the taxiway.dont denigh the emotion of being relaxed with you have examined it well. then be fully commited to that plan. chances are that by the time you leave the runway you will be confident that you are pilot in command.leave the pattern for a good lz friendly area and fly with some altituide untill you get to the point you are fully relaxed and confident and rehearse your aproach and landing sequence as your instructor gave you before doing it and use the same cofidence that you built to do it right.one thing i learned from hang gliding that really benifitted me is with all the insterments and gadgets we have with triking flying has alot to do with feeling it in our emotions and through the bar.i dont need an airspeed indicator to tell me i have airspeed. or an altimiter to tell me how low i am or high. i use my insterments for fine tuning and backup.being apprehensive is dangerous and does not induce good quick dicision proccesses. we can have loads of knowlege about flying rizzy but that alone is not the key. being confident not overconfident and gaining exsperience and feel making good decisions will make the jitters go away. know thy trike is my recomendation just my opinion rizzy

  • white eagle

hey rizzy sorry this is late but i bet it frlt good to get back in the saddle.i too get a little nervous when ive been dormant for a bit but from hang gliding days i learned to count on it as that i was being cautious and to do it right. big congratulations rizzy

  • cburg

We’ve been looking forward to hearing about how you like your new wing. Glad you seem to like it. Tell us more.

  • Ken

Great to hear it Riz - I had a couple of dry spells this year. One after I broke my collar bone this inter and one with unrelenting winds. I started to literally go through withdrawal symptoms after a while. I'm much happier when I'm flying

  • ULtrikepilot

Congratulations Rizzy! Please remember that one important aspect of flying trikes (or anything else for that matter) is currency. Don't let too much rust or erosion of confidence build up. Keep flying.

  • RizzyWizzy

Back in the saddle, today for the very first time after quite some time I got behind the controls of my trike and flew my brand new Manta 17 wing. Due to lack of flying for so many months, I was a bit low on confidence but after taking off, all of it started coming back to me and felt natural. The wing flies beautifully. I am very pleased with its flying characteristics. Full report later.

  • RizzyWizzy

Poulsen flyin. Any pilots who are travelling to Poulsen, on your way to Poulsen or when you return, if you happen to be in the Boise area and need a place to stay for the night, don't hesitate to contact me rizzywizzy@yahoo.com

Thanks Ken, Reb took off twice in front of me and I loved the speed it flies at..Rebt had to land to fix an issue with fuel filter...I left for work but Reb flew the trike again later when I spoke to Reb, he said the wing was very docile and flies beautiful...Now that I know the wing is flying true and straight, next time I take her up, I am shooting a video.
