Brings back some great memories of last year but I still think you should put up where nate mooned you're cameras that you accidently left on.
Hey Geo, nice photos. good memories. Looking forward to seeing you again this year at Polson as the base this time. Might be my last trip up north for the summer-- next summer I may migrate to Texas or who knows where else.
So glad you posted! Looking forward to the movies!!
Great article YFT. I am very glad that the Tanarg dash easily allows the storage of sectionals (maps) for reading in flight-- I use them about every two flights or more. Many times the only place I can quickly find the info is the sectional.
In the US, in most areas (except some SFRAs, etc) for VFR flight it is not specifically required to have an applicable sectional-- however you are required to have reviewed "all available information." It's quicker and easier to show a suit a sectional than to explain your way out of it.
RE Mounts, for a trike, it points up the fact that a tablet can not only become a missile to harm you (or your prop), but could become a bomb to harm those below. I mount AND leash everything on the trike. I do use an iPhone for a lot of info in flight- I mount it in a RAM mount below the dash. I leashed it to my flight suit figuring if I was thrown out of the trike (or escaped in a hurry) in an accident, the phone would come with me (previously it was leashed to the trike).
I've also noticed how much easier things have become (like weather, etc) in just the past 5 years-- there's an article posted here wondering whether that ease makes us lazy (I think so) and encourages more risk taking than it avoids-- I can make it between those thunderstorms I see here on my Stormo-Scope 2000 !!!
This sounds like it was a lot of fun !!! Man I wish I was doing that stuff as a kid. I almost convinced my parents into hang gliding lessons at one point, but .... it had to wait a long time until I had the decision making power AND THE TIME (and some $$, though not bad for aviation).
You're totally right Madmik, the force is strong in this kid. "55 MPH ... 7 gallons of fuel ... over 3 hours of flight" You really can't beat light aircraft ... I happen to like trikes a whole lot, but you just can't beat them for adventure and "real" flying (even better a Hang Glider ;).
This by the way is the Fisher FP 202 Koala:
