Hey Dean, I think the wing may fly better if that haul  back cable was on top of the hang block not under the top bolt.

  • Jozinko

Yes, ULTP is right, because the cable under the bolt is blocking the crossbeam and it is pushed down on the keel. The crossbeam have to be "free" moving up and down within the limits which gives it a white velcro stripe you have there.

Does the haulback cable stay under the wing? On all of my wings it is typically going through the hole aboe the hang block to the clip on the rear of the keel. Perhaps this is contributing?

yes the haulback cable usually goes above the hang block but it got hung up this one time.have set the wing up hundreds of times and this has never happend.wing makes a hard left turn and could not figure it out.had multiple eyes on the wing after but was hard to spot

Dean the only time this has happened on my mustang wing is when I had the cable on the side of the keel. just shouldn't get caught there period.

hey david all that stopped it from poping past the nut if you look at it close is the saftey pin.i have changed it too a curcular ring like on the bottom.should not get caught that way.im glad it didnt pop off in the air or my seat wouldhave been ruined ,]

Hey Dean, I spotted it immediately. Yes that safety pin would have caught the cable and not released it. I can believe it had a hard L turn because that kind of glitch would have forced the R wing to generate a disproportionate amount of the total lift.  If it is any consolation I have made a similar mistake years ago with a KP wing.

I've never like the safety pin there anyways. Now I've got good reason to change it.
