Broken nose wire shackle Aeros Profi TL causes crash, Save with BRS

I understand that a shackle is a metal loop in which a bolt is past through 2 holes.a tang is a metal plate where wire passes through holes with a thimble. So you are saying tangs are best correct?
On this or another thread I mentioned I use heavy duty tangs (some I make, some I buy), or double tangs (stacked). I’ve seen many of them break (especially on top rigging/landing wires). A single standard tang is the weak link. Can’t recall what size cables were on the broken ones. I believe they were 1/8”, possibly 5/32”. Certainly 3/16” would easily break a standard single tang. I only use 3/16” for everything and never with a single standard tang. The miniscule extra weight gives me peace of mind.
I remember old hang gliders (maybe new ones too?) used 3/32”. I had a saying “I don’t do…three thirty-two.” Yet some guys used to trike with 3/32”. I still shutter when I think about it.
I like thimble over bolt. I also used to use a lot of heavy AN eye-bolts, in shear...is best. Lots of cross sectional area. No cable can break the hardware in either method. I’d prefer the weak link be the cable. 3700 lbs (3/16”) versus 1700 (1/8”) pounds
Thanks cburg sounds like you're up on it.Iam not to worried about my airborne red back.but on my falcon 3 tandem that I am using on my sky cycle soaring trike the tangs look small and it does concern me.do you have any photos of you're tang con figuration that you could post.maybe blog on it beefing up wires and tangs that would be good blog.I like the idea of double tangs built in redundancy.but Iam also a little frightened of tinkering.the tangs on my spirit 200 were heavy but the tangs on my falcon look small and it's 229 sq ft.any help appreciated cburg thanks
Glad to help, but came to Holland for a meeting and got stuck for a month or two with a toothbrush and an extra shirt. I hope to be home in another month or so.
You can cut these 1” wide tangs in half and drill and radius the cut side (and bend if required). You can’t tell from the picture but they are quite thick, with a lot of cross sectional area. Much more than you have now.
Or you can stack two standard tangs (double tang).

Ty cburg looks like if I double up on tangs I will have to do the wires at same time as they have wires Nico pressed with thimble sleeve and grommet to the tang.talk more after you get back from Holland what a beautiful place.gonna have it well thought out before I start this project. Thanks
