Well do to a collective decision  the location for the fly in has changed. With the high heat ,chelan winds, and no hanger space we have decided it in the best interest of safety and comfort to move the fly in  back to polson montana. Vinny was very happy to have us back. Nathan will have his famous  evening washtub fire pit. Live music by myself and dan hollenback. We  will have possably up to three hangers available. Polsen has very cool comfortable weather flying on the lake. We will have a couple of boats available for flathead lake tours. We will have a ping pong table and vollyball as well. Very sorry for those of you looking foward to chelan but it would be very uncomfortable on the airport without hanger space

Thank you and please way in here with suggestions as tom and i would like  some imput. Please feel free even if you think you might attend?

If it's going to be held in Chelan, count me in. Great little airport and some beautiful areas to fly.

Chelan will be a must attend! They also have a casino there so you can win your fortune and upgrade or pimp your trike!

Maybe Kamron will have some fly-in specials

  • white eagle

So far dave we have 6 yahs and o nahs   btw  i got a message from mike theakie. Looks like dan b   is selling his sky cycle with mavrick wing ,kaw 440. i dont think it even been flown . • Walt

    Chelan! Thumbs up!

  • white eagle

Ok just got confermation with tom tabbs.   Elk river fly in 2016 will be held at chelan washington!  Big thanks to kameron belvins. For any of you who have not met kameron this is agood chance. Kameron is a leader of our sport, owner of north wing. The manufacturer of us wings for trikes and nw trikes.leader in soaring trikes and maker of the rival s for revo trikes. As many of you know chelan had devistating fire that came right into town. Chelan has been a big supporter of our type of flying including hang gliding comp at chelan butte. So lets sign on and give a boost to the economy  at chelan   and have fun doing some flying with a leader in the industry.

We will post the dates as soon as we get something solid but please  hit the rsvp even if you think you might attend.

  • Ken

I like it too. Always wanted to visit the northwing mothership. Great idea guys!

  • ULtrikepilot

I think Chelan would be a great choice.  I had a chance to see a little bit of the area when Dave, John, and I visited Kamron right after the Bonners Ferry fly-in.  Even had a chance to take a couple short flights there.  One potential downside from a flying perspective is that airport is surrounded by rather rugged terrain which could make for some squirrelly winds if direction and magnitude are unfavorable which could limit flying time. Awesome place to fly though.

  • white eagle

Yes you did joe and i was jealous of you flying the solairus. When do you get your wing. Ive flown chelan alot   0 thru 15. Some nasty rotors around what they call the mole and off one end of the runway. Once you get over the bluffs its not too bad . Also chelan butte is a great place to fly with some hang gliders.over to grand coulee is an awesome flight. By the way joe chelan is wine country.

  • ULtrikepilot

Yes I was happy to have a chance to test out the Solairus wing.  Do not yet know when I will get mine.  I really hope local vineyards were spared from the fires.

Any update as to confirming any dates for the NW Chelan Fly-in? June? July? August?

  • Ken

    I'd like to know too!

  • white eagle

Hi guys sorry it took me a bit to respond. The dates i posted at the top are kust a window.Last i heard tom and i including kameron belvins was that we had to set the date for an apreciatable season and conditition for all flyers. Chelan can be tricky for roudy air and tricky e/o senarios. The bluff side of the runway has a pretty good ridge rotor , the opposite has what is called the mole . So it has been mentioned to me to get a date set so pilots can request time off from work early enough.I have left several messages for tom but havnt heard back from him?I know he gets pretty bizzy with his new job but i will try and get ahold of him again and see if we can get something set.

  • white eagle

Hi everyone.  Well update.  I just got up with that scrapper tom and here goes. We still have to get a few details worked out on  using the airport for camping. So tom is gitting up with the airport board and kameron and we are trying to post a more definate date by next week. But so far it looks like the end of july thru the first week of august but that may change.

  • Walt

White Eagle, Thanks for checking into this. I've flown Chelan a lot as that is where I did most of my initial training with "Bedo" Rob, and am really looking forward to this fly-in. I'm sure it will be a big turn out. Last fly-in there hosted by Rob and Kamron was great. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

  • white eagle
    1. Thanks walt   maybe you might have an idea on camping places nearest to the airport. I was going to make that last fly in to robs but had to cancel at the last minute. Didnt you go to the one before that where clyde gave that awesome demo engine seminar?I might have met you there or at quincy.
  • Walt

I missed Clyde's demo and I don't think we've met yet. There is a large field owned by an apple rancher right next to the airport that was used for dry camping during the fly-in I attended. I was hoping Kamron would be able to secure that again. If not, choices are limited in the summer because of the popularity of the Chelan area. There is great campground below the airport on the other side of the river but it's first come first serve, no reservations.

  • white eagle

Oh gosh do i remember that apple orchard . Couldnt believe it.ive never seen a apple that big in my intire life. The size of a cantalope. I have to admit i ate one. Ok two? Walt mayby you could see if cameron could secure that again.Joe hockman ,j ebb and i stayed in that blue hotel when we visited kameron last summer. That was great and of course you know of that resteraunt that bedo liked, good food. Iam just not sure of how much the fires desimated chelan. I think some good ideas for cross country flights would be  to the grand coulee and over where tom did a geological video demonstration at one of the parks. Ive flown those cliffs and it is way cool. Also i remember flying out to some ww2 abandoned airstrips with a couple of pbys sitting there  that would be good. Chelan butte is way cool. Any ideas?

  • Ken

I got an email from Tom narrowing the dates on this event. Now either the first or second week in the updated dates.

  • Dave G

Just to confirm ken, it will be either the last week in July or first week in Aug ?

  • Ken

Yes Dave, thats what Tom said. He is coordinating with Kamron and the airport mgr to finalize.

  • white eagle

Ok everyone the dates are set and confirmed with kameron.  July 27 thru august 1. Chelan airport. Camping ,rv on the airport all worked out. So looking foward to seeing everyone. Tom will be posting on hanger space and kameron is looking foward to  meeting everyone who has  not meet him yet. I think there will be some really good cross country .perhaps to some abandoned missle silos, and the grand coulee . Really some senic flying along those cliffs. Close to chelan is chelan butte for some exelent soaring potential. Some great resteraunts like kamerons favorite. The mexican food is quite good. So looking foward to this one.Dont forget to hit the rsvp button.

tom just called looks like we will have to make do this year .chelan doesnt have any hanger space available.

  • Sally Tucker aka Deafladyhawk

Hello, I got confused reading this post.   In the previous post, the date has been set for July 27 to Aug 1.   I see another trike website, trikepilot.com saying the date is set in June????

    Thank you

  • white eagle

Ok to make this clear  the pacific nw er fly in will now be held at polson montana (flathead lake)  july 27 thru aug1st    polson is a really fun place to fly!  Sorry to those who we might inconvenieced but due to safety factors and no hangers we were forced to move it to polson    see you there

  • Ken

Woops! missed this update - Polson was a beautiful place to be. Can't wait to see you all again there

  • white eagle

Oh awesome ken.   I was afraid you might have been disapointed  . I knew you wanted to see kameron. Hoping kameron might come.  Tough because he likes to do arlington and thats back to back. Nice thing about polsen is they have hanger space . And we can have nathans famous firepit. The weather is cool. This time were having volly ball and a ping pong rematch.  Really looking foward to seeing you ken.
