How do the fly-away work, and what can I take?

We have a 22 seat bus. The bus carries your luggage and the food for the seven days lunches. We also have trailer to carry fuel containers, and bags. The flight plan follows main roads, and this allows the ground crew to reach the airfields along the way in time for aircraft refuelling, if required. This also allows the aircrew to carry less on board the aircraft. The route also allows Air and Ground Crews to make the best advantage of food stores and petrol stations.

Accommodation is arranged for you, and we all stay in the one motel, where possible. We always try to get a motel with a restaurant, so all the crew can eat and socialise together.

The food fund covers your lunch for the seven days, so don’t bring your own supplies as we only have limited space. If you need special food, Peter or Anne need to know when you sign on for the fly-away, and they will make sure you are catered for.

PERSONAL GEAR…  Please keep your personal gear to a minimum, as we only have one bus. ONLY SMALL SOFT BAGS WILL BE ACCEPTED. We can stow them easier in the bus and trailer, and move them around when needed, without the use of a crane!

You can take up to 2 x 20lt jerry cans, one oil container and a small tool kit. Please keep to this as we only have one trailer.

Accommodation prices include continental breakfast and most dinners if we eat in the motels restaurant. The Fly-away cost includes food fund, bus fund, flight plan folder, organisational fee & postage.

    Hi YFT,

Its always such an exciting time to hear the announement of the next Megafauna to see where we are going. Great to see Nhill as the destination next year with some great planned activities. Where's Nhill??? our friends in the Northern hemisphere must be asking. It must have had a few hits on Google Earth last night.

I notice that so many people that have been on these trips before just keep coming back, again and again. There is a lot to said about the fun and enjoyment of knowing we are going to fly for 7 days to wonderful places for a week and with great friends. The actual destination doesn't really matter so much because its fun while not flying that's just as good.

I think we have visited all destinations in Victoria and New South Wales. Can I suggest next year you plan one to the somewhere really different, may be the moon. We haven't been there yet. This would allow White Eagle to meet us there, kind of like meet you half way, type idea.

Hi YFT, last Megafauna Fly-away was the best experience of my life. Especially landing "up side down" was veeeery funny :) With a best instructor (thanks Peter) I was able, after my Great mistake, to land with speed cca 140km/h... Because, on final, I saw ASI and it showed me 70. I thought it is too slow and I pulled control bar to 85-90. And Peter was laughed to my headset nad told me: This ASI is in miles, not kilometers... I turned red in the face, at the moment.

For all who wants spend a beautiful time, with a beautiful people, over an incredible country, I refer: YOU MUST TO GO THERE!

eeeeeeeee, Peter, will you need a bus driver? :) I promise, I will to pay on filing stations... :)))
